*The beauty of flowers is universal; an essential part of our innermost being: our true nature. The Flower Brain series is about growth, positivity, and transformation. It is an exploration and celebration of how inner beauty ultimately manifests itself as outer beauty. In the Flower Brain series, I overlapped and manipulated vintage imagery along with old botanicals, birds, and butterflies to bring out organic beauty. As the series progressed (from Flower Brain to Butterfly Brain to The Sirens), I found that most of the vintage female imagery (pinups in particular) - while provocative and beautiful - often depicted women in an objectified way. In order to present a more positive and modern representation of women, I visually altered their stances and environment in order to empower and uplift them; owning their beauty, in harmony with nature.
